- Expect the coarse hair to finish first because it holds more solution.
- Process both for the manufacturer's maximum time to be certain.
- Expect the porous fine hair to process faster and check its test curls sooner.
- Give both the same time since the product is identical.

C. Correct. High porosity lets solution enter quickly, and fine hair has less bulk to penetrate, so it reaches full curl sooner. Processing time is established from hair characteristics and confirmed with test curls, not a fixed clock.

A client whose hair is coloured to level 4 with permanent colour wants a level 7 result. Why can't a level 7 permanent formula alone achieve this?
- The previous colour makes the hair too porous to process.
- Level 7 formulas only work on hair with over 50% grey.
- Permanent tint cannot lift previously deposited tint.
- Three levels is beyond what any product can lift in one step.

C. Correct. "Tint does not lift tint": oxidative colour lifts natural pigment but cannot remove artificial pigment already in the hair. Reaching level 7 requires first removing the artificial level 4 colour with a colour remover or lightener.
